Katharine Clark Gray's 516

Philadelphia Theatre Workshop presents Katharine Clark Gray's 516 (five sixteen), a revenge romance set in academia. May 15 - June 6 at the Walnut St. Theatre Studio 5. 9th and Walnut Streets, 5th Floor, Phila PA. Tickets and information at www.philadelphiatheatreworkshop.org or by calling (215) 316-1361.

Don't call her a ghostwriter, Annalee is a professional term paper auteur. Then she meets Sigurd, a cocky grad student who hires her to pen his "chore" assignments while he works on a mysterious thesis. The two soon become embroiled in a blood-sport romance that leads to betrayal. When a stricken Annalee exposes their arrangement, they must confront Sigurd's professor Martie Hodge. They strike a deal saving their skins, but Martie is exacting in her price. Driven by pride, desire, and intellectual longing, 516 (five sixteen) is a revenge romance for brainiacs, a mash note to the mind.

Raechelle Walker Ellis

Jordan Harris and Raechelle Walker-Ellis, both members of the Philadelphia Youth Comission, at their event "Youth Summer Opportunities Fair" on May 11, 2010. This was an extradinary event with over 500 attendees; Mayor Nutter visited as well. The PYC is doing amazing good work- and their oldest member is 23 years old!

Raechelle Walker Ellis (L) and Nuthyla Sinada DMD

In August of 2009 our long-time patient Raechelle Walker-Ellis was appointed to the City of Philadelphia Youth Commission by Councilman Darrel Clarke.

Since her appointment she has also been elected as Chair of the Health and Wellness Committee within the YC.

Created in 2008, The City of Philadelphia Youth Commission (YC) is a group of dynamic young people appointed by city officials to act as advocates for the youth of Philadelphia. The YC represents Philadelphia's youth in public hearings and gives testimony that reflects the youth perspective. The YC works with the city, non-profits, community organizations, and private entities to develop strategies to improve the lives of Philadelphia's youth. The YC serves as a conduit for youth action no matter a young person's background. In addition, members of the YC also advise the Mayor, City Council, Philadelphia Public Schools, and other key decision makers inside and outside of city government.

Our friend Angela Lussier has written an important and engaging book.

Angela introduces her work:

The saying goes that necessity is the mother of invention. I say frustration is the mother of inspiration, especially for people who know they aren't getting all that they want out of their lives. The Anti-Resume Revolution is leading the shift in the way people apply for jobs, start businesses, view their futures, and create what they want in their life.

Are you tuning out of your life in order to get through each day? Or, are you living an authentic life? Do you even know the difference? Are you facing a changing world that no longer looks and sounds like the one you once knew? Now that you've come up for air and graduated, come back to the workforce after raising your kids, or received the dreaded pink slip, what do you see in your future?

If you know you deserve to be happy and have the job you dreamed of as a kid, you are ready to become part of the revolution. Within the pages of this book, you'll learn how to create a personal brand for yourself online and in the face to face marketplace. Find out the most common mistakes made by job seekers and how to avoid them to get what you want, faster. Learn the #1 way to be remembered by anyone you meet and read inspiring stories from the people who created the life they want and are currently doing what they love. If you're looking for a meaningful change in your life, this book is for you.

By purchasing this book, you are committing to be part of the shift from mindlessness to meaningfulness. Are you ready to restart your life on purpose?

If not today, when?

Nick and Katie Gray (pictured) were involved in The Preservation Project, 12/11/2009- 4 short plays that, just like Katie's "USER 927", just provoke bushels of thought.

Tenor Paul Robinson recently appeared in a production of Johann Strauss' "Die Fledermaus", at the Shannondell Performing Arts Theater, December 14 2008. Paul played the role of Eisenstein, and enjoyed working with a very talented cast under the direction of Josephine Guido Sadacca. We already knew of Paul's musical talents, but it was very nice to discover his ability as a comedic actor!

Dr. Wilson is a member of and Essay Chair for the Academy of Stomatology of Philadelphia, a continuing education dental society founded in 1894. The Academy has a year-end function which engages a non-dental speaker. In 2008, our guest was our patient, Dr. Selcuk Guceri, Dean of Drexel University College of Engineering. His topic was "Striving for Sustainability", and he eloquently reviewed the challenges that we face in our increasingly crowded world. Here Dr. Guceri is shown with Dr. Paul Baran, Drexel '49. Dr. Baran recently received the National Technology Medal for developing the packet switching technology which led to creation of the INTERNET:

In 2009, Urban Engineers has been named a winner in the annual "Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania" program. Urban placed 9th in the Large Company category (251 or more employees). This marks the 7th time that Urban Engineers has been honored with a Best Places to Work in Pennsylvania award since its inception in 2000. The competition is sponsored by the Pennsylvania Department of Economic Development, the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, and the Central Penn Business Journal.

In addition, long-time patient and President of Urban Engineers, Edward D'Alba, recently sent this note to us:

"Dr. Wilson, Have enjoyed the conversations over these many years about your personal experiences with hybrid vehicles. I write to let you know that your example has inspired our organization to go "hybrid" as well. I am pleased to report that as of today we are better than half way there in converting all of our company vehicles to hybrids. And all that drive them appear to be smiling a little bit bigger as we do our part to support our green environment. Thanks again for the inspiration. Ed"

Our patient, Pamela Cohen, came in with her recently published book, “Ashie, Lost in a Hurricane”. She gave me an autographed copy for my seven year old son who thoroughly enjoyed the story. You can find a copy on any of the online book distributers. If you would like it signed, let us know. I’m sure we can make the connection. ~Annette

On September 27 Dr. Wilson and his daughter Jenna participated in the MS150, fundraiser for research in Multiple Sclerosis. They rode on their tandem bike. It was a remarkable experience for a father and teenage daughter to spend 5 hours in such close proximity and never have an argument!

Sara Reiter, Conservator of Costumes and Textiles at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, was kind enough to show off the new Conservation Lab in the Perelman Building! In the photo are, left to right, Dr. Wilson's wife Michelle, friend Anne McCrossan who came all the way from England in part to see the Gee's Bend quilts, and Sara. Comprised of some 30,000 objects, the Museum's collection of Costume and Textiles is one of the oldest and largest in the country. Rotating exhibitions highlight diverse aspects of this encyclopedic collection. Anyone who wears clothes should have a look!

Dr. Wilson and friends saw Jon Dichter (left, with guitar) perform at MilkBoy on Jan 24th. Jon is an excellent guitarist and counts Django Reinhardt among his major influences. Find out more at http://jondichter.com .
